Frontier Homestead State Park, originally called Iron Mission, opened in 1973 to house the Gronway Parry wagon and carriage collection. Over the years Frontier Homestead has evolved and expanded to include historic buildings and hands-on activities to educate and entertain the whole family. The mission of Frontier Homestead State Park is to collect, preserve and interpret the cultural history of the Iron County area. Spring through fall hands-on activities ranging from washing laundry to loading a wagon are available, giving visitors a chance to sample life in the late 1800s. Special events in cooperation with a variety of local groups provide fun for the whole family throughout the year. A highlight of many visits is the chance to climb in a replica Concord stagecoach. Guns, snow machines, and the oldest brick house in Cedar City round out the visit. For a calendar of special events and activities check out frontierhomestead.org.
